HFI assists five students to complete their Applied Counselling Training amidst the Coronavirus lockdown!

Farewell! – I’ve wrapped up my posting with Lighthouse Counselling and Training Centre in Kigali, Rwanda and headed back to Calgary!

Probably the three most visible occupations here in Rwanda are the street sweepers, the mobile money pit stops and the motor bike taxis. Land is cleared by hand with machetes and spates and often the field workers – usually women – look up from their labor to give me a smile and a wave. People toil hard here to survive.

My early morning walk or my ½ hour walk to the centre (when it is not too hot or pouring rain) most often travels by the woman who sweeps the streets along the road – and it has been nice to connect now with a friendly ‘good morning’ or ‘mwaramutse’ in Kinyarwandan.

Life is full now. Apart from co-facilitating the training class and team meetings I have a full client schedule and a reminder once again that we share so much in common in our human condition.

Jordan departs Canada for Kigali, Rwanda on December 30th. Check back in early January for her first update post!
