DONATING to HFI:  HOW IT WORKS

Hands and Feet International Society (HFI) is a registered corporation in the province of Alberta under the Societies Act and is also a registered Canadian charity with the Canada Revenue Agency.

All donations made to HFI in support of sanctioned volunteer opportunity Postings or Projects are tax deductible to the full extent allowed by law for Canadian tax payers.

All donors to HFI should understand that your contributions are solicited with the understanding that HFI has complete discretion and control over the use of all donated funds. The charity will attempt to honor gifts designated to support particular Service Opportunity Postings or Projects, but the final decision on the use of all funds rests with the charity.

HFI does not assess any overheads or administration fees on any posting or project donations.  Thanks to the generous support of those who believe in our vision and give to our General Fund from time to time, we are able to allocate 100% of the monies donors give directly to the posting or project they designate.

Occasionally, we receive more contributions for a given project than can be wisely applied to that project. When that happens, we use these funds to meet a similar pressing need with one of our qualified and approved partner delivery organizations.

No persons who provide leadership, governance or otherwise support the operations of HFI receive a salary or any other remuneration other than defrayal of legitimate business expenses; their services are provided on a 100% volunteer basis.

HFI Provides for the three following methods to make your Posting or Project Donation:

PayPal Gateway (Credit Cards)

PayPay is our preferred secure gateway for receiving donations. As a PayPal member you can make use of all payment methods that your account is approved for, including any direct debit transfers from your bank account.   Even if you are not a PayPal member, you can still make use of your credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express) to donate to HFI via our PayPal gateway.

Donors should note that PayPal will deduct a credit card processing fee of 1.6% + $0.30 of the total amount donated.  Although this credit card convenience fee is one of the lowest offered to charitable organizations, donors are kindly asked to give consideration to topping up the amount of their gift to cover this processing fee, should they wish to help us defray these costs.  

Interac-EFT

Donors are able to use their personal banking online account with any Canadian bank to electronically transfer to HFI a Posting or Project Donation.

When this option is checked on any of our donation pages, a specific set of instructions will be displayed listing the post-process steps one must follow to set up and donate to a new Interac e-Transfer Payee using their online banking app. Once the donor completes the information on our donation page and clicks the  Donate Now button, a confirmation message is displayed and an email is sent to the donor with the same post-process Interac-EFT instructions for the donor to follow on their banking app in order to complete the donation transaction.

Although this method requires a few more steps to complete, donations made using Interac-EFT do not incur a processing fee!  Donors should keep in mind the following limitations applied to all Interac banking transactions between two parties:

• per transfer and within 24 hours: $3,000
• within 7 days: $10,000
• within 30 days: $20,000

Personal Checks

HFI accepts personal checks for all donations without limitation.  The best way to get these monies to us is to post your check in the mail using the mailing address on our Contact Us page.

All checks must be made out to “Hands and Feet International Society” and must include a memo item specifying which Posting ID or Project ID the funds are to be designated to.
