On August 6th we launched the first phase of training of the Innovation Hub. I’m so excited to finally get to this stage after over 9 months of planning and preparation. Our first 18 Young People Learners were nearly jumping out of their skin with excitement and anticipation!
Each week for the next twelve weeks we will be taking them through a specially designed program of rich content, lead be trained facilitators in three streams of Leadership (Tuesdays), Digital Skills (Wednesdays) and Soft Skills (Thursdays).
I’m very privileged and so grateful to have been given this opportunity to lead the Program Team for the program and oversee the Project Office. Its been pretty much a full-time job as a volunteer but so rewarding as we see how this program will literally unlock the potential in these young lives where they would never have otherwise had this opportunity to pursue a career in the digital economy as South Africa struggles to provide jobs for its young adults, especially those coming from marginalized backgrounds and living in townships.
I look forward to building deep relationships with these 18 young people as I help the team oversee training delivery.
Andy I will be co-facilitating our Soft Skills training stream with Maurisa Moloto and alternating instructing our weekly modules over the next 12 weeks.
Its all taking place at our amazing Innovation Hub – a 250 m2 leased facility in Phiippi Village.
We are off to a great start and momentum is building! Look forward to bringing further updates in the weeks ahead!
