Women seeking healing
after abortion

Sonya’s Story of Volunteer Service

Over the past number of years, I’ve been honored to have successfully led 33 women through our post-abortion healing program which would last anywhere between eight to ten weeks.  Each participant engaged in a safe, compassionate, supportive environment designed to promote emotional restoration and healing, spiritual renewal, forgiveness and lasting hope.  The journey was deeply transformative – many women reported experiencing significant healing, newfound peace and a sense of connection with others who shared similar experiences.  In addition to our regular weekly sessions, I maintained consistent contact by reaching out each week to check in on participants’ emotional well-being.  These follow-ups provided ongoing encouragement, allowed for timely support between sessions and helped build trust and continuity in their healing journey.  Every story of healing reminds me of why this work matters.  Thank you to everyone who prayed and supported me as these women journeyed with me.

In addition, during this period, I’ve assisted 43 women who needed support who were not yet ready to participate in a structured post-abortion healing program but expressed a need for a safe and compassionate space to share their experiences.  I offered active listening, emotional support and when appropriate, referrals to qualified mental health professionals and community resources.  This ensured each individual received care suited to her current stage of healing.
