I’ve had the privilege to work with Keith Lawrence, leader of weekly Kids Clubs and the senior member of the Hillsong Africa Foundation (HAF) planning the annual Young Leaders Camp which just took place in early December. Keith oversees program delivery of Kids Clubs to over 1,700 youth each week in 9 different locations across South Africa. Each year they select approximately 100 youth out of this group who show promise as leaders in their various age groups and invest in a 3 day camp where they learn leadership principles and how to apply them in team competitions that stretch their physical and emotional limits. It was amazing to see the growth and maturity of some of the kids who have attended for several years and also see the kids soaking up every minute of teaching and coaching they received from several special speakers and HAF leaders as well. The camp was a resounding success once again and it gives me great joy to know that I have had a small part in coaching and growing the HAF leaders like Keith who are in turn passing along their skills and experience to the youth who will one day become the principle-centered leaders and nation changes that South Africa so desperately needs.
